Trey Ratcliff came to Kent State University to participate in their Presidential Speaker Series. Trey presented “The Future of Digital Arts and the Internet“. Trey discussed the current state of digital art and the internet.

Trey runs the #1 travel photography blog at www.stuckincustoms.com where he receives more than 500,000 monthly page views. His photos have also seen more than 50 million views.

Trey brought HDR Photography to the masses and has appeared on numerous television networks and other outlets discussing it. To learn more about HDR you can get a complete tutorial on his website at http://www.stuckincustoms.com/hdr-tutorial

At the conclusion of his presentation the floor was opened for questions. At this time people asked about his photography and other things. One of the questions concerned composition. Trey stated that he divides photo into horizontal thirds and every third must be interesting, otherwise the photo is boring. For example, in landscapes the sky is usually 1/3, so you need to make it interesting, i.e. blue skies are boring.
